Engineering Manager

The ability to support developers working on autonomous teams which stay close to the customers and have a large say in how the product is developed even as we grow, we feel is pretty cool - and the Engineering Manager role gets to do just that.

Supported in a team of Engineering Managers and reporting to the VP, your role operates primarily as both a Career Coach and Hiring Manager. Your team will consist of developers that span different projects in a Squad/Chapter formation. Depending on where your particular strengths and experience lie, there is an additional opportunity to collaborate on process and/or product development.

A Little Bit About You

  • Your strengths are first and foremost as a Career Coach and Hiring Leader. You are skilled and fulfilled in helping people realize their potential.
  • Your technical background in software development has been enriching, but you are happy letting others take care of the code and technical design.
  • You see rapid change and growth as an exciting opportunity to help people and companies.
  • You are known as a kind, wise leader who can see the bigger picture. It isn’t uncommon that people from all areas of the company seek you out for guidance and support.

What impact will you have on Unbounce?

  • We are at a point in the growth of our company that is rich with opportunity. Your role will help us with the successful transition from a small to mid-size company.
  • Improve how we work, execute and iterate the process of company growth through collaboration, change management and more.
  • Part of company growth involves expanding our product offering and this offers the opportunity to co-create and collaborate on any changes in how we build/ship/deploy software.
  • Raise awareness of Unbounce as a technology company in the technology community of N.America and beyond for hiring, sharing expertise and developmental initiatives.
  • Co-create Unbounce-specific agile methodologies building upon chapter-squad engineering organizational principles.
  • Help facilitate the improvement of our ability to build software as a cohesive unit including development, QA, design, UX, and product.

Some examples of what you will have the opportunity to learn in this role:

  • Organizational change management in a company undergoing growth.
  • “Lowercase agile” development so that you can know when to adhere and when to innovate and challenge how we work.
  • How to preserve the best parts of squad autonomy while scaling the department.
